It might feel strange, but fruit (especially pear) and cheese is a very Italian food pairing.
There is even an old saying that goes: “al contadino non far sapere quant’è buono il formaggio con le pere” (don’t let the farmer know how good cheese is with pears).
And I prepare this salad since I was in uni, more than ten years ago, when I have started eating (French) cheese and one of my flatmates suggested I try brie cheese.
Pear and brie cheese salad (serves 2):
1 pear, diced
100 gr. brie cheese, sliced
a handful of walnuts, crumbled with your hands
mesclun salad
XV olive oil
balsamic vinegar
salt to taste
Again, pretty obvious: mix everything and season with a balsamic vinaigrette.
